So, when the first day of pain hit me, I took some OTC pain medication. This medication didn’t really take effect until after about 30 minutes or so. I needed immediate pain relief and I don‘t like the idea of popping too many pills. A few years ago, I bought this stuff called Myoflex Odorless Pain Relief Ointment. It was originally intended for pain relief for muscle soreness after my workouts. I started to slack off on the workouts, until the exercise just stopped altogether. Therefore, the Myoflex ointment ended up tucked away in a drawer (and in the back of my mind), collecting dust.
Well, I saw a commercial on TV for Icy Hot and this gave me the idea to start using the old Myoflex ointment again. I already knew that it worked from prior experience. The first night that I used it, I could feel the effects almost immediately. I am not sure why, but places where I rubbed it felt a little bit warm. The pain killing ingredient goes right to the spot where you are feeling that pain. I just massaged the Myoflex into my feet, heels, and lower legs, vigorously. I think that the cream along with the pain medication enabled me to get a good night’s sleep.
So now I am rubbing the cream into my feet and legs before and after work to alleviate the pain. A good aspect about the product is that nobody else knows that I am wearing it, because the product does not smell bad, like old school Ben Gay. I can’t say that the pain is eliminated, but I definitely see that it helps a lot. Depending on the intensity level of your pain, the relief might last a few hours. I will continue to use Myoflex odorless pain relief ointment until my body adjusts to the demanding work routine. I also plan on buying a better pair of walking shoes, like New Balance brand and some compression stockings.
Myoflex Odorless Pain Relief Ointment is a white, odorless, and greaseless cream, which I like. It doesn’t leave stains on your clothes or bedding, either. The one thing that I don’t like about Myoflex is that it is very thick and takes much work to rub in and absorb into the skin. An added plus is that the cream really moisturizes the skin. The active ingredient in it is 10% trolamine salicylate. This cream is for external topical use only and ingestion is not intended. I believe this product is comparable to other good products such as Ben Gay. The other inactive ingredients are cetyl alcohol, disodium EDTA, fragrance, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, and white wax. I bought mine in a small 4 oz. tube from Walgreens a while back. You can probably get it for about $10.
I don’t know how well this product works for arthritis or joint pain, because I have not experienced these forms of pain. I recommend this product for temporary relief of minor muscle and back pain. Always use this product as directed. Be sure to consult with your doctor before use.
