Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner |
I have been using Dove hair products on and off for a little over a year now. I was first turned onto them after I received a free Dove hair care product sample from Unilever (the company that manufactures Dove products). Before I used the product, I was a little skeptical, because I relate to Dove as more of a great skin care brand. So, I wasn’t too sure how good the brand would be when it came to hair care. However, after I tried the Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair product sample, my perception changed.
Now, I consider Dove to be among the best low cost hair care products on the market. They are pretty much up there with other great hair care products that I use such as Pantene, Dr. Miracle, and Crème of Nature. Mostly, I alternate between these products, but sometimes I use others. When I am short on cash, I use Suave or Alberto VO5 hair care products. When I want to splurge and pamper myself a little, I use Nexxus hair care products. For about three months, I have steadily used Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner on my hair.
Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair shampoo effectively and gently cleans my hair. It moisturizes my hair and leaves it feeling very soft. Some other shampoos make my hair feel hard and brittle. Thus, making it hard to comb through and style. Not this one! I just get my hair really wet while I am in the shower and pour a small amount of the shampoo in my hands. Then, I lather it up in my hair, scrubbing my hair and scalp. Usually I wash and rinse my hair at least twice to make sure that I get a real good clean. Then I follow this up with Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair conditioner, letting it sit on my hair for about five minutes before rinsing. Both the shampoo and conditioner rinse away without a residue. I love that the products aren’t oily or heavy on the hair.
I can tell that the three months of using Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair has been very good for my hair. I went through a period where I was very lazy with my hair care. I got off the routine that I had in place to keep my hair looking fabulous. I was not giving my hair proper care and treatment. This resulted in my hair having lots of matted ends, split ends and breakage.
I can’t claim that the product worked miracles. I don’t think that the product “repairs” or “mends” split ends. It more or less nourishes, strengthens and softens the hair (if any of that makes sense). Along with some other products, Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair helped me to get my hair back on the right track. Now my hair looks more thick, healthy and shiny. I happen to have very kinky, African-American hair, but I believe that this product can be good for many different hair types.
My only criticism is that I think that Unilever could do better with the scent of the product. They don’t smell bad, but I expect a much better fragrance in shampoos and/or conditioners. I really like for scents to linger in my hair for a long time after I wash and condition it. The fragrance in the shampoo and conditioner is very weak and mild. Still, Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair is an overall good product line. Unilever proved to me that it understands hair care as well as skincare, with this product line.
For the price that you pay, the results can‘t be beaten. You can buy a 25.4 fl. oz. bottle of the shampoo or conditioner at a Walmart store for $5.00. I definitely recommend Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner.
